After two years in the french organization, Carter's time with Vitality seems to be over
On September 4th, Alexander "Carter" Cartwright, the current League of Legends Head Coach of Vitality in the LEC, announced that he is "exploring coaching positions in all regions". Although he is technically still contracted with Vitality until November 2024, with James "Mac" MacCormack and Patrick "Pad" Suckow-Breum, the two other main members of VIT's staff, contracted until 2026, it is very unlikely that Carter will extend his contract with VIT in the coming weeks.
Two tough years with Vitality
Though Carter's experience is not to be doubted, as he is in his 6th year of top-tier competitive experience as a coach, his last two years with the Hive have left a sense of incompletion. Vitality has indeed missed the LEC Season Finals twice, in 2023 and 2024, despite fielding two rosters that looked very strong on paper. A single 3rd place finish in the 2023 Spring Playoffs remains as a minor success for the French organization.
However, Carter was previously the coach of MSF LEC, helping rosters that looked barely average on paper achieve strong results and contest the top 3. During this time, he notably helped Iván "Razork" Martín and Vincent "Vetheo" Berrié establish themselves as strong players in the league in their first two seasons. Before that, Carter had achieved several good results in the ERLs ecosystem with MOUZ and GamersOrigin.
