Disagreements have led the team and its jungler to part ways
Two matches and then gone. This Wednesday, Skillcamp announced the departure of their jungler, Roshan "Roshan" Visser, after just one week of competition in the LFL Division 2. The week included two losses, first to Esprit Shonen and then to Izi Dream. “The coaching staff and the player were unable to align on a shared vision that could highlight the strengths of the team,” explained the organization in its announcement on X. The player also reacted, stating that he had personally made the decision to leave and emphasizing that his choice was unrelated to the team’s performance. “With the conditions imposed by the staff, I don’t think it’s possible for a player to thrive in that environment,” Roshan clarified.
The organization’s CEO, Luca “Hunter” Freund, provided more details to Sheep Esports about the reasons for this abrupt departure. He first confirmed that this “mutual decision” was unrelated to the team’s winless first week: “There had already been doubts since early January during scrims. The team's official matches weren’t a factor at all because, realistically, those were two strong teams in the league, so the chances of winning the first matches were slim.”
Hunter also highlighted that “Roshan was dissatisfied with the way the staff approached the game and collaboration.” “Despite our efforts to find common ground during the bootcamp, we weren’t able to,” the CEO explained. “That’s why we decided to make this change now, to maximize the time we have to work with a new player and give Roshan the opportunity to quickly find a new project.” Hunter also revealed to Sheep Esports that this “new player” would be Janis, a jungler who previously played for the team’s academy roster.
According to Sheep Esports sources, the disagreement stemmed primarily from a clash between the coaching staff’s methods and the player’s expectations. One of the key reasons for Roshan’s departure was reportedly a perceived lack of autonomy granted by the staff, who retained strict control over decisions related to drafts, training regimens, and other aspects beyond gameplay itself. Although the departure went smoothly, this total incompatibility, felt both online and during the Skillcamp bootcamp in person, led to the jungler's departure.
