Caps has been with G2 Esports since 2019
G2 Esports announced on their X account the contract extension of their Danish midlaner Rasmus "Caps" Borregaard Winther until 2027. The European legend was initially set to become a free agent at the end of 2025, but has now been secured by the organization.
Caps joined G2 in 2019 after two great years with Fnatic, where he won both EU LCS splits in 2018 and reached the pinnacle of his time there with a Worlds final appearance—ultimately falling to Invictus Gaming. Since then, the dynasty built with G2 Esports has been nothing short of incredible: an MSI title in 2019, another Worlds final that same year—this time losing to FunPlus Phoenix—and, above all, twelve LEC titles, making him the most decorated player in European history.
Caps is a living legend—one of the few to have gone toe-to-toe with, and even beaten, the greatest players in League of Legends history, including Lee "Faker" Sang-Hyeok. More than once, he came within a hair’s breadth of lifting the ultimate prize: the Summoner’s Cup.
The 25-year-old midlaner will therefore continue writing his legacy with the Samurai, as G2 pull off a major move by locking down the best European player. While 2025 hasn’t been fruitful for G2 so far, there’s little doubt the team has what it takes to bounce back, contend for both the Spring and Summer Split titles, and once again represent Europe on the international stage.
