FNS & s0m are IN — Demon1 is OUT
North American organization NRG is set to make major changes to its roster after disappointing results in the VCT 2024: Americas Stage 1. Sources close to Sheep Esports indicate that the team is now set to welcome Pujan "FNS" Mehta and Sam "s0m" Oh back to its starting roster, whereas Max "Demon1" Mazanov will no longer compete with the organization's main roster, instead taking on the role of substitute.
Striving for Success
Initially coined as a super-team, NRG entered 2024 full of promises with a star-studded roster. Despite expectations, the team has now effectively failed to meet its own ambitions and is in the process of making major changes to its lineup to get back to the top of the VALORANT Champions Tour. In the first half of the year, the team achieved decent results in their region's kickoff tournament, ending in a shared 3rd place yet failing qualification to the Masters Madrid. Disaster unfortunately struck the team as it then ended in last place of its group during the Americas League Stage 1.
Following a season as a full-time streamer and content creator, this move will now mark s0m's return to professional play, after having taken a break in September of last year. In the past, the player competed for 3 full years with the organization and even attended several international events. The player is also still known for his extensive career as a Counter-Strike player, notably having competed with Gen.G Esports.
In a similar fashion, FNS also left NRG in September of last year and later joined G2 Esports as a streamer. Despite a successful time as a content creator, the player is now hungry to rejoin his former teammates and help redeem NRG's recent results. In 2023, the player competed with the organization for a full year, attending all international events of the 2023 yearly calendar.
Unfortunately, this move also means the benching of current world champion Demon1. Despite having earned much recognition last year with Evil Geniuses, the player has failed to uphold his previous performances with his new organization and will now be taking a backfoot. As previously reported on Sheep Esports, the team has also already made the decision of benching Jimmy "Marved" Nguyen from its starting roster.
