Hiro and Piwek have only played four official games with BDS
After four games played in the LFL Flash In, Team BDS Academy are making two roster changes to their starting roster, sources tell Sheep Esports on Thursday. Following several tryouts during the offseason, the Swiss organization has reached verbal agreements with Toplaner Antero "Papiteero" Baldaia and AD Carry "Mishi" Westerbacka. The deals, expected to be finalized on Monday, will allow both players to continue scrimming with the team ahead of their official debut in the Spring Split.
With this decision, Team BDSA Toplaner Alexandre "Hiro" El Hodebey and Kamil "Piwek" Staroń are moved to the team's inactive roster, as announced on Thursday.
After a dominant 2024 season, during which they claimed both the LFL and EMEA Masters titles, Team BDS Academy saw all of their roster move up to the LEC. Heading into 2025, the team took a different approach in the offseason, prioritizing development by signing a young roster featuring several rookies. However, after underwhelming results in the LFL Flash In (Winter Split), they have opted to make two roster changes ahead of the Spring Split, set to begin on April 9 at the LFL Holy Days offline event.
A duo coming from Verdant
At just 21 years old and hailing from Portugal, Papiteero began his career in 2021, gaining experience in the ERLs. Mishi, slightly older at 23, has a bit more competitive background and is already familiar to dedicated French fans, having played in LFL Division 2 with Akroma during the 2024 Winter Split. Towards the end of 2024, Mishi notably also peaked at rank 7 in soloQ.
In Summer 2024, both players joined forces on Anorthosis Famagusta in the Greek league, securing a spot at the 2024 Summer EMEA Masters. However, they fell short of advancing past the Swiss Stage. For 2025, they once again teamed up, this time with Verdant, in the star-studded NLC. With Verdant, they finished in fourth place, bowing out to Bulldog Esports (1-3) in the playoffs. Now, Papiteero and Mishi bring their existing synergy to Team BDS Academy as they take on a new challenge.
