After a year in LEC, Luon joins the LCP
Support Lee "Luon" Hyun-ho and jungler Park "Mir" Mi-reu are set to join Chiefs Esports Club, sources tell Sheep Esports on Friday. They will play for a historic minor-region organization returning to the League of Legends scene in a major region.
Chiefs Esports Club will be one of the four guest teams in the newly formed League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP), one of the five main regions in Lol Esports next year. They will be the oceanic representatives of the Asia-Pacific region. Other guest teams include organizations DetonatioN FocusMe (Japan), Team Whales (Vietnam) and Vikings Esports (Vietnam).
The Chiefs with two strong recruits
At the beginning of November, as the teams participating in the new LCP league were revealed, the Chiefs issued a statement confirming their participation in the competition by relocating to Taiwan. They have entered the transfer market to position themselves and represent Oceania while facing the best teams from Taiwan, Vietnam, and Japan.
As part of their roster moves, they secured renowned support, Luon, who just arrived this year from the LEC after competing in the Summer Split and Season Finals with SK Gaming, alongside his countrymate Cho "Rahel" Min-seong. Originally trained in the LCK's academy teams and the Challengers league, Luon proved himself as one of Europe's top supports at the end of the year, even though he didn’t have many games to showcase his talent. He is the first recruit for the Chiefs, joining alongside Mir (formerly "Arthur"), who has a very different profile.
The jungler returns to the Chiefs after playing with them in 2022, where he helped the team win the second split of the year, which earned him the opportunity to compete in the only Worlds of his career in 2022, although the team didn't secure a single victory in the Play-In stage. At 24 years old, Mir played this year in South America, first with FURIA in the first split, and then with Six Karma in the LLA during the second split, without particularly standing out. Before this, he had also played in the LCK in 2021 with Hanwha Life Esports, alongside a certain Chovy during the Summer split that year. Ironically, he is returning to the origins of his career, as he started in 2019 in the OPL with Avant Gaming.
