Roleswapping is expected to restructure the team around Demek
KOI Fénix has just found its latest duelist. Per Sheep Esports sources, a verbal agreement has been reached between Dawid “demek” Madrak and KOI Fénix to join the team ahead of the upcoming stage of the VCL Spain: Rising.
The Polish player recently played for GoNext Esports and Szach Mat in the VCL NORTH//EAST. This year, demek and the rest of Szach Mat made it to the finals in Stage 1, losing in a close 2-3 to Team Liquid Academy. He’s known for his Neon play and time on Polish teams like the aforementioned Szach Mat as well as Incognito.
A shifting team
Demek will be joining the team after the announced departure of Diogo “OLIZERA” Oliveira, who played as the team’s Sentinel. Demek is a Duelist main, conflicting with KOI’s current player, Zachary “ZachKappa” Neal, who is expected to stay despite tryouts with NAVI. Were ZachKappa to leave, demek would’ve slotted in as Duelist anyway, but since he’s set to remain on the roster, ZachKappa is instead expected to play more of a Sentinel role on the team, as he's played before on rosters like Chipi Chapa. He'll be rotating positions with Antonio "Guardy" Guardiola, and the team is poised to flex the two players depending on maps and game-to-game strategy.
Demek’s addition to KOI Fénix comes after the team’s loss last month in the lower final of the VCL EMEA, a heartbreaker series for fans after disconnects and remakes. This year has been an overall positive one for KOI Fénix, with a first-place finish in the VCL Spain: Rising Stage 2 earning KOI’s academy their first trophy. With the new addition of demek to their roster, KOI Fénix is hoping to continue that success and further it in Spain’s Stage 3 and beyond.
