Webedia will reauthorize LFL academy teams
3/3. After Valiant and Skillcamp, Karmine Corp’s Blue Stars project becomes the third team set to join LFL Division 2 next season. The club announced this on Saturday in front of some 28,000 fans at KCX 4, held at the U Arena in Paris. Unveiled at the previous KCX, also at this venue just over a year ago, the Blue Stars project is a training initiative aimed at identifying the League of Legends talents of tomorrow. The academy is reserved for players under the age of 19, and applications are now open.
By entering Division 2, the club is returning to its roots. Kameto Corp began their journey in France’s second division before rebranding as Karmine Corp and advancing to the LFL a few months later. In their single season in Division 2, KC achieved a podium finish with third place. Since then, the club has grown significantly, establishing itself as one of the LFL’s top teams before joining the LEC in 2024. KC have maintained their ties to the French scene with an academy team in the LFL.
Turning point
Starting in 2025, the Prestigious will operate on three levels, similar to LCK teams with their LCK CL and LCK AS subdivisions for developing young talent. The arrival of the Blue Stars project also marks a pivotal moment for Division 2: since 2023, LFL teams have been unable to field rosters in the lower division. This decision, which led to the departure of TPAA, the LDLC OL academy, was initially criticized but is now history. According to Sheep Esports sources, Webedia will reauthorize academy teams, transforming Division 2 into a true development league.
